History Department
The Department of History was established in 1956. It has a faculty that has a vibrant, innovative and intellectual culture. The Department strongly believes that goal-oriented development requires healthy interaction between society and the state. The strength of the department lies in the commitment of the teachers and their close bond with the students. The department held historiographical Indian Nationalism, communal comparative study of governments during various phases of time, gender, Caste, structure, social inequalities etc.
Vision:
Department helps students to understand people and societies during different eras. The department is committed to prepare students to contribute and be committed to research with new database methods which includes interviews and field studies. The History department prepares students for a wide range of careers.
Courses:
Department offers two courses
1. Undergraduate
2. Post Graduate
Post Graduate courses: Post Graduate course in hostory was started in 2016. Department offers two options at post-graduate level.
a) Medieval Indian History
b) Modern India History
These options are given to the girls for the continuity and better understanding of the subject.
Objectives of Department:
The main focus of the history course is to discover about the stages of growth of human civilization and the evolution of the social system and cultural and scientific development.
To enable the students to understand the restructuring of the state and society from tribe-based policies to those like territorial identity of citizenship.
To enable students to efficiently meet global competence.
Post-Graduate courses try to enable students to conduct research that makes an original contribution to knowledge.
